February 21, 2014 by Michelle Malaran Fiskilis Leave a Comment

Samal IslandIt was called the  Island Garden City of Samal. It is an Island located 2 kilometeres away from Davao City. The mode of transportation to reach the island is available via a barge/ferry service or passenger boats along the Sasa Wharf. It is a perfect place to unwind if you want to experience peace and serenity. It has numerous Resorts namely Kaputain, Cannibad, Chemas, Camudmud, Costa Marina, Blue Waters, Mayumi, Isla Reta and Paradise Island and many more which offers easy access to clear aquamarine waters and white sand beaches.

The most famous resort in this island is the Pearl Farm Beach Resort which was formerly an actual pearl farm. It offers luxurious guest rooms, cottages and villas just above the gulf allowing visitors to experienced breathtaking panoramic scenery.

A Guinnes World Record Holder for its largest fruit bats colony in the world goes to this Monfort Bat Cave which is owned by  Indigo-Monfort family. Visitors can get up close look from outside on the abundance of fruit bats. Late afternoon is the best time to visit.

Next on the list are the Samal’s riches marine life that allows visitors to do some snorkel and scuba diving in Mansud Wall and Talikud Island. And if you want to to witness the Vanishing Island you must be on good timing Samal Islandbecause it only shows its beauty during low tide.

So if your going for a holiday in Davao City, don’t missed out Samal Island on you list of destinations, it offers a variety of outdoor activities and not only that public order and security is strictly implemented so don’t have to worry about anything else, just have fun and relax. Some people say Samal Island is like Boracay. Going there is completely worth it for the sunset and beautiful diving/snorkelling areas. The sea is transparent and the beaches are generally clean.
